I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen; not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.

Complete Control

FROG

The day when the biggest illusion of all is shattered; when you realize all semblance of control over your life is gone, and once again you are left a feeling of complete and utter chaos.

It's that day when you realize the foundation you've put so much time into is nowhere near as stable as you thought.  That the cornerstone you had chosen so carefully wasn't meant to be a cornerstone at all.

It's days like these that push us to prove our sense of control.  This is why TV, video games, books, movies, and music are so important to us.  It is these little addictions that help us feel like we are in charge of our own lives.  It's being able to watch whatever we want, manipulate the game, and know the ending will never change that makes these things appeal so much to us.

We exert control in other ways too.  We "eat our feelings", cut and dye our hair, pierce and ink our bodies.  Schedules become more and more important, helping us to feel empowered in our day to day lives.  We buy things, enjoying that feeling of accomplishment and instant gratification, making us feel like a "self-made man".  We are in control of ourselves, and what happens to us.

No.

There is only one cornerstone that isn't going anywhere; one unshakable foundation that we are meant to build our lives upon.  God.

A few weeks ago, I gave you an acronym about prayer:

PUSH - Pray Until Something Happens

This week, I have a new one for you:

FROG -  Fully Relying On God

We all desire a sense of stability in life, a feeling that no matter someone or something is going to be there, patiently waiting to take care of us.  It seems only logical then, to put that type of faith and trust into Someone who has no beginning or end; into Something that existed before there was anything to exist in. "God's folly is wiser than human wisdom, and God's weakness is stronger than human strength (1 Corinthians, 1:25)."

Why then not rely on something all-powerful and truly amazing?
