I hope my use of the word feminist doesn't offend anyone here. There is absolutely no reason to find the word offensive actually. A feminist isn't a man hater, she isn't a lesbian, and she doesn't even have to be a "she".
A feminist is someone who believes in, and fights for equality, regardless of numerous factors including: sex, religion, race, and social class.
Is that anything to scoff at?
If anything, that sounds like a lot of people we know; Blessed Mother Teresa, Blessed Pope John Paul II, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, St. Francis of Assisi and others.
There are all kinds of feminists today, filled with various theories as to how we can make the world a better place, while fighting for various levels and ideas of equality. But as a Catholic feminist, it comes down to one simple phrase: that God created us in His own image.
For God created human beings to be immortal, he made them as an image of his own nature;
Wisdom 2:23
Men and women are very different, but we were created to reflect God in all of His entirety. We were not created to be better than other, nor were we created to be exactly alike. We are two halves of one whole, together helping to create a more perfect image of Our God and the Love God has for us.
Totus tuus,
LeAnn
